David from the roadside: Peggy stepped out onto the trail at Campo (Mexico border) at 0550 this morning with the biggest smile on her face and a double shot of coffee in her tummy. It was a pleasant 51 degrees and fog with the first light of day topping the nearby hills. Two and a half days of being cooped up in the truck were lost memories now.
A recently retired Chemical Engineer, I am fulfilling a long held dream to hike the 2664 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. This dream was very nearly siderailed last year when my femur shattered in a freak fall. Only through the unfailing love and support of my family and friends am I able to begin this journey. David VanHandel, my ever patient partner is providing support throughout the journey, a task perhaps more difficult than mine. View all posts by Halfhandle
