TD 38 MP 838.5

July 8th dawned with renewed vigor and hope despite our slow progress.

Today our plan was to climb to the top of Muir Pass and sleep in the historic Muir Stone Hut!!

The climb was beautiful, icy, golden .  It went quickly relative to the previous passes, With little route finding difficulty.

Standing on top of the 11, 955 ft pass, the hut is truly a work of art.  Octagonal granite, it is made in the Italian Trullo tradition.  Surprisingly warm inside, it was fun to be in a building.  Many other hikers, going both directions were there and the evening was lovely.  The door hinge needs mending,  if you go please bring a strong screw and a screw driver.
